2008: Take time to celebrate!

Submitted by on December 30, 2008 - 7:34 am

Be honest. What didn’t happen in 2008? If I’m totally transparent, I have to admit that I didn’t lose all the weight I wanted to. I also didn’t pay off all the debt I wanted to.

But while I didn’t lose 20 pounds or become completely debt-free in 2008, I did achieve other major milestones. I paid off my personal debt, leaving me only with business debt. I lost 10 pounds, a major coup for this yo-yo dieter. And there were other big and small victories along the way.

While it would be all too easy for me to look at 2008 and focus on the many things I didn’t quite accomplish, a healthier and happier way to look at things is to celebrate the little victories. And so I’m going to. I invite you to do the same. Make a list of at least 10 little victories you experienced in 2008. Give yourself credit for the great and small achievements in your life. Once you’ve made your list, review it. Celebrate it. Do a little victory dance! This is your chance to recognize your forward momentum. Honestly, the best gift you can give yourself in the new year? A pat on the back, Credit for coming as far as you did in 2008. And encouragement to keep going in the new year.

So, to kick things off, here are just some of the big and small victories I experienced this year:

1. Experiencing my dream wedding
2. Launching my coaching practice
3. Keeping my clients happy
4. Traveling abroad with Mr. XY
5. Studying with amazing teachers
6. Growing my business
7. Inviting my friends to join Mr. XY and I in Paris, and having a blast!
8. Finishing book #2 (due out in May ’09!)
9. Starting book #3
10. Taking better care of myself

Go ahead. Make your list. What great and small victories can you celebrate moving forward?
